Lamplighters NYU
OUR MISSION
Lamplighters is an all square student theatre club dedicated to creating and performing theatre for young audiences (TYA) to audiences throughout NYU and the wider NYC area. We produce creative and innovative works that are fun for all ages and strive to provide an outlet for NYU students to express themselves artistically. Lamplighters is all about creating inclusive, diverse, and accessible theatre. We push boundaries addressing stigma surrounding children’s theatre with high quality productions and popular shows that bear a significance in today’s world. We also work hard ensure that members of our casts, crew and audiences feel and know that they are safe, heard, and valued in all our work.
OUR HISTORY
Lamplighters has been creating quality Theatre for Young Audiences at NYU and beyond for nearly 10 years! We've put on musicals, plays, cabarets, reviews, and student written pieces every semester since our founding. In the past, we've had students from local NYC schools work alongside us on productions: acting, working on the production team, and being mentored by members of our club. We've taken productions "on tour," performing at schools and venues outside of NYU. We've featured student written works and have devised pieces through workshops. Overall, our past reveals an exploration and deep appreciation for theatre in all its forms.
